The central government had stopped pensions and inflation allowances for government employees in view of the Koro crisis. Then now the three installments of this suspended allowance will be deposited soon. The finance ministry on Tuesday assured that the three installments invested by central employees and pensioners would be paid soon. At the same time, it will be paid with the rate applicable from July 1, 2021.
The central government saved Rs 37,430 crore by withholding DA and DR installments
In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur said that the central government has saved Rs 37,430.08 crore due to the withholding allowance in view of the Koro crisis. Which has been used to combat epidemics.
Expensive allowances of central employees and dearness allowances of pensioners were withheld from January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021. At present, central employees are given a 17 per cent inflation allowance. The cabinet has approved an increase of 4 per cent. In that too, the inflation allowance will go up to 21 per cent. Which will take effect from 1 July.

50 lakh employees and 61 lakh pensioners will benefit
In April 2020, the central government decided to withhold inflation allowances for 50 lakh employees and 61 lakh pensioners till July 2021, in view of the Koro crisis. The finance ministry said in a memo that in view of the corona, the increased installment allowance for central employees suspended from January 1, 2020 and the dearness allowance for pensioners would not be paid in installments. In addition, the additional installments of 1 July 2020 and 1 January 2021 will not be paid. However, at the current rate, DA and DR will continue to be paid.
